| In early 1990, few Brothers of Yugoslavian origin came up with the idea to restore the Grand Lodge in the old SFRY. In April 1990, Lodges “Pobratim” (Brother), “Sloga, rad i postojanstvo” (Unity, Work and Consistency) and “Maksimilijan Vrhovec” were officially registered in Belgrade and on June 23 of the same year, the Brothers of the United Grand Lodge of Germany brought in the Light and reactivated the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia. The country enters the period of big political, economic and social crisis. One year after, there were some problems and disagreements among the membership. It is estimated that the old Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia had from 40 to 60 members. In 1993, a group of nine Brothers, where some of them had also been the founders of the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia, went to Rimini, Italy, where they were the guests of one of our Brothers, member of the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia, but also the member of a Lodge in Italy, where he has been living and working. In his house, those brothers held an extraordinary Assembly of the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia without informing other brethren, they elected a new Grand Master, and added a prefix regular to the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia, and thereby changed its name to the Regular Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia. In June 1993, they officially registered the Lodge with the Federal Ministry of Justice of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. After that, they addressed a request to the United Grand Lodges of Germany, where they had a support of brothers of our origin who were lobbying with the United Grand Lodge of Germany that the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia had changed its name to the Regular Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia, which was not true. In the following years, they tried to obtain recognitions from other Grand Lodges in various jurisdictions. However, the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia has never been extinct nor it discontinued its activities; also, the Memorandum of Association has never been withdrawn, but the Lodge was in a state of hibernation because of the conflicts in the Serbian Masonry. In 1997 there is another disaccord among Brethren of the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia and a large group seceded; such group established the Grand National Lodge of Yugoslavia, which is then recognized by the Grand Lodge of France. The State Union of Serbia and Montenegro is dissolved on May 21st 2006, and Serbia and Montenegro declared their independent states respectively. In Montenegro, the light is brought in the new-formed Grand Lodge of Montenegro, and on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, the Regular Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia continues its activities, where a new large-scale disunion occurs manifested by the fact that more than 80% of members (brothers) left the Regular Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia. A dramatic decrease in RGLY membership was the reflection of the dissatisfaction caused by the self-will of the group of masons which was at the head of the Lodge, and of which the ambitions were to stay there forever. Guided by personal interests and far from the ideas and observing the elementary principles of the Freemasonry, they did not give any attention to the obvious dissatisfaction of brothers from the 11 Lodges that completely left the Regular Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia. Presenting themselves as the Regular Grand Lodge of Serbia and the legal successor of the Regular Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia, without a Memorandum of Association and without the registration with the authorities of the Republic of Serbia, they have deceived the brothers of United Grand Lodge of Germany (Vereinigte Grosslogen von Deutschland), informing them that the Regular Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia is now registered as the Regular Grand Lodge of Serbia and that it had 800 members in 20 active lodges – which is not correct (such work lodges have never been registered with the authorities, which is the legal obligation). - Click on the link to see the LETTER OF THE UNITED GRAND LODGE OF GERMANY. From the above letter we can see that the Regular Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia was not re-registered even though it stated that in its letter to the United Grand Lodge of Germany and thereby it deceived all the membership. Namely, the Regular Grand Lodge of Serbia is registered with the authorities of the Republic of Serbia by the Grand Master Čedomir Vukić, PhD and by brothers from 11 work lodges. Thus, being gathered around Bro. Čedomir Vukić, the brothers from 11 work lodges continued to consolidate in the period from 2005 to 2008, and after that they signed the alliance and registered the Regular Grand Lodge of Serbia, in the Orient Belgrade, with the government body, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of the Republic of Serbia, Decision No. 130-024-00-01477/2008-07 (to view the Decision click on the link), which is the Sole Sovereign Masonic Authority on the territory of the Republic of Serbia; this lodge is an independent and self-managing organization which ensures the continuity of the Grand Lodge “Yugoslavia”, roused on June 23, 1990 by the United Grand Lodge of Germany, with exclusive and indisputable authority on the territory of the Republic of Serbia and which works on symbolic teachings and Masonry degrees (Entered Apprentice, Fellow craft, Master Mason), and Worshipful Master Bro. Čedomir Vukić was elected the Grand Master.
